A Resolution is for Life not just for New Year

I’ve never really been a fan of the whole ‘New Year’ thing! But that’s just me.

The one good thing about the whooping and cheering that goes with the striking of the clock and the fireworks (and oh yes I love the fireworks by the way!!) is that it gets people in the mood of thinking about their goals and aspirations.  Most people know though that the activities behind those goals are often short lived.  Even worse it’s not until the following New Year’s Eve that they come back onto the agenda.

Gym’s will see a massive take up of memberships in January and know that by March those who keenly set their keep fit resolutions have gone back to the sofa and the chips.  It’s how it is for most people.

So why not not be like most people and instead think carefully about your life goals and then resolve to yourself to see them through until you succeed in their achievement.  First comes the hard work of thinking about what specifically you do want and next comes the daily efforts to make them happen.

A few changes in how you use your time alone has the potential to make big differences in your results.  Think of it in terms of watching TV – spend 30 minutes less watching TV every day and instead do something towards your goals – whatever they are – getting fit, learning a new language, writing a book, reading more books, talking more with friends… and at the end of the year you will have devoted 10,950 minutes to making real on your resolution.

What are you waiting for?

On yes and…Happy New Year!!
